About

Greetings to all,

My name is Rob Silverman and I would like to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to introduce myself and my company. The story of how Bible Run came to be is nothing less than a miracle, guided by hope and faith in G-d, hard work and a passion for education.

As a child I was diagnosed with learning disabilities and depression, causing both frustration and low self-esteem. This led me to questions about my abilities and the purpose of my existence. However, over time, I learned to accept that I was not like everyone else, and focused on the positive aspects of my life. The disorders, though debilitating at times, were actually gifts as I began to see where I fit into this world, and decided to dedicate my life to helping both mentally and physically challenged individuals. Twenty years later, here I am, doing exactly what I set out to do. I have worked hard and persevered, in obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Education. Through most of this time I followed my heart, never thinking about G-d or anything to do with religion. I took time to travel the world and just lived a carefree life.

At this point you might be asking what all this has to do with G-d? My answer is simple: my parents! Many years ago, my mother became very ill and my father made a deal. He said to G-d that if my mother would recover, he would change his ways and follow the path of an Orthodox Jew. Thank G-d my mother recovered and my father kept to his word, never looking back. The whole ordeal did not make me a believer, but it did create a “spark”. What if G-d does exist and there is a purpose to life? I began to see that perhaps there is something spiritual in this world, guiding and watching over us. Slowly, I decided to look into religion and found myself even more discouraged, as learning and remembering things from the Bible did not come easy. Life was difficult enough, but having to commit to daily prayers, a new language and trying to believe “was” and “is” often very difficult. As a way to remember what I was learning, I began taking notes on everything, and would continually review what I had wrote. During this time, I was working at a school teaching basic Bible lessons to students with learning disabilities including one teenage boy with down syndrome.

As a means to teach these students, I would often look at my notes and try to find fun and interesting ways to get through to them so they would not only understand, but also remember what they had learned. As a result, the concept of Bible Run appeared to me. I decided that I would take what I had learned and create a new approach to educating people about the Bible. This would be something inclusive to everyone despite their capabilities or knowledge. A fun way to bring people together, and make them “WANT” to learn. Five years later, with the guidance of close friends and many exhausting hours of labor, Bible Run became a reality! It is with great hope and faith in G-d, that Bible Run continues to inspire and educate people for years to come.

Sincerely,

Rob Silverman
